Thomas Ballantyne

Director of Marketing, Bulwark Pest Control

Star Thomas Ballantyne began his career with Bulwark Exterminating when they first opened their doors in Austin Texas. Based simply on the fact that Adam Seever, owner and President of Operations, is Thomas's brother-in-law. Thomas worked as a pest control technician for that first summer of 1999. After that he moved to Phoenix, AZ to finish a marketing degree. While pursuing a degree in marketing he worked as a wedding photographer. As a photographer he built his first website and got it ranked #1 for Phoenix Wedding Photographer. During that time, Thomas would frequently play board games with Adam, and during one of their gaming sessions Adam enlisted Thomas to head up research and development so Bulwark could launch their Phoenix weed control operation. Later Adam confessed that he hired Thomas because he could consistently beat him at board games and that this was show enough of his business strategy skills.

In 2006 Thomas was promoted to Adam's Executive Secretary. Learning from a real business genius, Thomas grew in his understanding of small business, customer service, customer advocacy, customer assassins, customer retention and most importantly customer listening. He developed an appreciation for Bulwark's culture, and the service that truly motivates the business. After picking up the pieces of Bulwark's website that had been "under construction" for 8 years, Thomas was placed over tracking a monitoring Bulwark's yellow page ads. Soon after fully analyzing the cost per acquisition of yellow pages customers to online customers, Adam gave Thomas the title of Director of Marketing. Today Thomas heads up a small marketing team within Bulwark, which he confesses is almost all online marketing.

The real tribute goes to a family pest control company that began 10 years ago, with a small group of 10 or so employees. Bulwark today is located in Austin, Houston, San Antonio, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Charlotte, Raleigh, Tulsa, Atlanta, and St. George UT. Bulwark services 50,000+ customers. According to Bulwark's 2009 annual survey, 97% of those customers would recommend Bulwark to friends and family.
