Workshop 2: Neuro Web Design Intensive: What Makes Them Click?

We think that people are logical and rational, and that their decisions are made by careful thinking. But the reality is that most decisions that people make are made in a largely unconscious way. Whether the decision is to go to your website, come back to your website, refer your website to others, register, or purchase a product, people are making those decisions in a way that often bypasses the conscious brain. In this tutorial, Dr. Susan Weinschenk will share the research on unconscious mental processing, and the implications for how you design your websites. You’ll practice what you are learning by evaluating and re-designing web pages based on the principles.

Here is a sampling of what you will learn from this informative and engaging workshop:

  • How emotions affect decisions to take action at a web site
  • How to keep and hold the attention of the unconscious mind and why that is so critical
  • Where and how stories and pictures are processed in the brain that makes them so powerful at web sites
  • Automatic triggers that humans react to
  • Whether the order of items on a web page affects the decision to take action
